Welcome to Vehicle Tracking Info, an overview of the process involved in setting up your own vehicle tracking / fleet tracking solution focusing on the EZ10-GPS.

If you are willing to handle the initial setup and installation yourself, along with the SIM card contracts (or top up of PAYG SIM cards) then it is possible to end up with a cost effective vehicle tracking system.

Systems on the market today are generally sold as a complete package operated on a daily / monthly subscription fee basis, which may not be suitable cost wise for the small business, and not flexible enough for the larger business looking for GPS tracking integration with their existing company servers and backend systems.

In technical terms (real time) tracking solutions are generally comprised of 3 main parts:

  1. Tracking unit hardware - Physical box installed in the vehicle which sends positions reports to a central server.
  2. Tracking unit software - Software which runs on the tracking unit hardware (without software/firmware the hardware box does nothing).
  3. Vehicle Tracking Server - Server including physical computer server / server software responsible for receiving positions from the tracking hardware and displaying them on a map when requested by system users or otherwise making use of, or providing reporting on the location data.

The 3 parts can each individually either be purchased off the shelf or developed in house for greater flexibility in that specific area e.g. if bespoke vehicle journey / job reporting functionality is required, or custom hardware is required due to e.g. space limitations. See section links above for further information.

Parallel Track provide a real time GPS based vehicle tracking solution. Evaluation tracking units are available allong with software only solutions for systems integrators / developers.
